The First Luminous Mystery- The Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan
John had been baptizing in the Jordan River. One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and asked John to baptize Him . John protested because he felt that Jesus was the one who should be baptizing him. But Jesus told him that they needed to do this to fulfill all righteousness. It was the right thing to do. So John baptized him in the river.
Immediately after he was baptized, as he was praying, the heavens were opened and a dove came down and rested on Jesus. It was the Spirit of God in the form of a bird that had come down to show who Jesus was. Jesus saw it and John also saw the dove.
Suddenly there was a voice from heaven saying, "You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". The dove and the voice of God were a sign to John that Jesus was the Messiah who had been promised.
Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name: Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.
John the Baptist was at the River Jordan
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen
John the Baptist said, " I am baptizing you but there is One that is mightier than I"
Hail Mary…
He said, "I am not fit to untie His sandals"
Hail Mary…
He said, "He will baptize you with the Holy Sprit"
Hail Mary…
Then he saw Jesus coming
Hail Mary…
John the Baptist said, "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world"
Hail Mary…
Jesus asked John to baptize Him.
Hail Mary…
After He was baptized, the Heavens opened up
Hail Mary…
The Spirit of God descended on Him like a dove.
Hail Mary…
A voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
Hail Mary…
Glory Be To The Father
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
Fatima Prayer
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy.
Amen.
