Mary Visits Her Cousin Elizabeth- The Visitation

Mary left Nazareth to go and help her cousin Elizabeth very soon after the Angel Gabriel had visited her. On seeing her beloved cousin Mary, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leapt for joy. The Holy Spirit had let Elizabeth know that Mary was to be the Mother of God.


Elizabeth greeted her cousin Mary saying “Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”

Mary replied “My soul praises the Lord. All people shall call me blessed for God has done great things for me.”

Mary stayed with Elizabeth until her son John was born then returned to Nazareth.
